Tragik: Ultima Ratio

Songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist Phil Vincent has been involved in a number of projects over the years including his band Tragik, releasing a new album in 2021 titled Ultima Ratio. In the band are:

Phil Vincent (vocals, bass, keyboards, lead and rhythm guitars, drums)
Damian D’Ercole (bass)
Dirk Phillips (drums and percussion)
With:
Vince O’Regan (lead guitars)
William Roux (lead guitars)

This is another band I have yet to hear as I was unfamiliar with Phil Vincent before now. I have to say Vincent has a great hard rock voice, full of passion and energy and makes these songs come alive. The rest of the band is up to the challenge, delivering great riffs and a hard driving rhythm section as evidenced by the first track “Hunter�. The chugging riffs and super catchy lead and backing vocals makes for some hard rock ear candy. In “Wet Dog�, there is a bluesy undertone in the guitar and fiery guitar solos absolutely burn through the soundscape. More bluesy hard rock can be heard in the ‘70s inspired “Out On A Limb� and with the catchy “The Last Resort�, the piano, riffs, and vocals make this one of my personal favourites on the disc.

Ultima Ratio is an excellent slice of catchy hard rock that is positively addictive. Highly recommended.
