Ninety Two Degrees: Dystopia

It seems that this album has had a VERY long gestation period, as I’ve read Facebook/Blog posts from the band going back as far as December 2020 about the making of this album.

Mike Puskas, who I believe is the bands leader has, with this album attempted to make a statement about the present state of the planet, hence its title.

is at its very heart a hard rock record and although not a concept album as such does try to convey the message that the world needs to reflect on its actions and hopefully bring about a change in the way the world sees itself.

With that out of the way, it’s down to the music itself and there`s some 140 minutes of it to get through, so without going into detail about every track, it’s fair to say that the majority of this album is fairly standard hard rock, that does at times gets bogged down somewhat and the thought of listening to this album in one sitting is a daunting one.

There’s a discernible lack of diversity in the material, with one track seemingly merging into another and I found my attention beginning to wander the further I went into the album, and I found it difficult to really recall anything that really stuck with me after repeated plays.

There`s an old adage that says `Less Is More` and in this instance I would say that this rings so very true. It’s an admirable message that the band are trying to get across, and it’s just a pity that the material just doesn’t live up to expectations.
