Fuzz Sagrado: A New Dimension

After the demise of psychedelic hard rock/stoner/blues rock act Samsara Blues Experiment back in 2020, guitarist/vocalist Christian Peters has to decided to return to similar sounds after a few forays into instrumental and more keyboard based music with Fuzz Sagrado. Basically a 'one-man' project, Peters handles all vocals and instruments here on A New Dimension, labeled as 'desert rock', which, oddly enough, kind of fits. Part blues rock, part psychedelic rock, and part atmospheric 'desert rock', A New Dimension bubbles, boils, twists, turns, and soars throughout the albums 9 tracks (12 if you get the CD version), and while overall it doesn't quite hit the highs of his previous band Samsara Blues Experiment, there's lots to take in here and enjoy. From the opening riff-heavy title track, the droning, doom laden "Lunik IX", the melodic "In Her Garden", to the expansive, experimental space rock of "Furthur", there are lots of flavors and textures here that show off the skills of Peters. Those into mellower, dreamier fare will love the anguished synth tones of "Need For Simplicity", the acoustic strains of "Tropical Rain", the oddly delicate "The Mushroom Park", and the haunted psych of "Crashing Cascade", with Christian's vocals sounding like a head-on collision of vintage Ian Anderson, the late John Du Cann of Atomic Rooster, and Hawkwind's Dave Brock. Buyers of the CD version of A New Dimension will get treated to the layered textures of "Arapongas", which floats and sails, probably the best representation of this thing called 'desert rock'. Well done.
