Butterfly Garden: ...And Everybody Else
Norway`s Butterfly Garden were Initially active in the 1990`s with the release of two albums, and it’s been a very long wait for the band to follow up their last album For You which was released in 1996.
Not much to go in terms of information on the band, but what the band play is a sprightly brand of Rock/Pop. It’s clear from this album that they have taken their influences from the Brits, there`s the Oasis like `Oh Tell Me Love`, but without the overwhelming Gallagher brothers arrogance, and all the better for it too!
Numbers such as `Sometimes`, `Mountain` and `Just Overdo It` are all upbeat Rock/Pop numbers, with at times a sense of the 1960`s to them, which for me personally is certainly no bad thing. The former being a nice piece of Power Pop, whereas the other 2 songs display a happy knack of getting my feet a tapping.
There are also some more thoughtful tracks too, the instinct Pop of `I`m A Liar` and the rather subdued, but nevertheless effective `We Tried` both offering up a different side to the bands song writing.
In all, there are 11 tracks that are quite refreshing to hear. The album has a cohesiveness to it all and for those of us who, like myself are more than partial to a tasty slice of Pop/Rock this album is a very pleasant listen indeed.
