Limite Acque Sicure: Limite Acque Sicure

Limite Acque Sicure is the self-titled studio debut by Italian RPI band LAS, a sextet from Ferrara that plays lengthy suites, with a beautiful and lush sound, creating exquisite musical moments relying in a lot of masterful guitars playing, tight rhythmic section, tons of keyboards and synths, as well as phenomenal flute and harp… truly captivating. The band is comprised of Andrea Chendi on lead vocals, Luca Trabanelli on guitars, Paolo Bolognesi on drums, Ambra Bianchi on flute, vocals and harp, Antonello Giovannelli on keyborads, and Francesco Gigante on bass.

The high quality of this album, in both its musical content and sound, is fantastic and recognizable after the very first listen, which is not that usual when talking about debuts. After further digging about the band, everything started to make more sense, like the flawless rendition to Banco’s “I’m Giardino del Mago”, the spectacular piano-driven “Terra Straniera”, the funky and retro sounding “Ill Respiro Dell’anima”, the pseudo-rocker “Sogno D’Oriente”, the hypnotic “Antico Mare”, and the more symphonic and heavy “Fiamme Intorno”… these musicians are no newbies to the prog scene, in fact they use to cover music from classic giant acts such as Banco and Le Orme before recording their first original material, and it is fantastic.

Everything to love about classic symphonic prog, mixed with a lot of great heavy guitar riffing and shredding, beautiful flute soloing, harps here and there enhancing the marvelous music, great strong and romantic sounding vocals, and pristine rhythmic execution… an album to fall in love with, a late-year gem! I highly recommend this record, a must listen before the end of the year. Cheers!
