One can appreciate the musicianship, but not necessarily the music. King Crimson alumni Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn join forces with Markus Reuter to create noise. In the words of the Grinch; “If there’s one thing I hate, all the noise, noise, noise, noise!” Honestly, it might be skillful noise, but it’s still noise to these ears.

I’ve seen similar incarnations (Stickmen for instance) live, and it’s been a great experience. But, when I’ve sat down to listen to their albums, it a whole lot of nothing. The music meanders, pointless, long, and drawn out, I presume these are improvised pieces? Often jarring, at times atmospheric, but I challenge anyone to recall what they heard, I think you’ll find it a most difficult task. This review may be short and sweet, but this disc is unbearably long, clocking in at an hour and 53 minutes. Good luck making it through this one.
