This live album recorded in the UK in 2018 by Ace of Spades -- an all-star band fronted by bassist/vocalist Alan “Boomer” Davey -- will appeal to both hardcore and casual Motörhead fans. Davey replaced Lemmy Kilmister on bass in Hawkwind when Lemmy left to front Motörhead and went on to become an icon, and he’s commonly considered the guy who can best nail Lemmy’s sound and style.
Which is why Davey wound up joining guitarist Neil Archer (Robert Plant) and drummer Garry Bowler (Würzel) in playing a monster tribute show in Bristol two years after Lemmy’s death. From opening song “Iron Fist” straight through to the blistering double-fisted “Ace of Spades”/“Overkill” finale, this 76-minute performance dares you not to close your eyes and reminisce.
