UK psych/space rock favorites Cracked Machine are back with their latest platter of instrumental jams, titled Wormwood, which follows their strong 2020 effort Gates of Keras. Eight new tracks of textured space rock and psychedelic journeys, Wormwood busts out of the gate with the mesmerizing "Into the Chronosphere", a song richly layered with intoxicating guitar patterns and tight grooves, which then moved into the alluring "Song of Artemis", a track that features some truly memorable and soaring guitar melodies. "The Glowing Sea" gets pretty heavy, and the guitar solos are absolutely sizzling, while "Eigenstate" is more upbeat and jangly, and one of the tracks here that you could even imagine having vocals if they chose to go that route. Space rock fans will love the haunting, undulating "Return to Antares", while both "Desert Haze" and the title track close out the album with pulsating grooves and dramatic guitar thunder.
Wormwood is another entry in the slew of excellent instrumental psych/space rock releases we've seen in recent months, and with four albums now in their catalog, Cracked Machine have built up a strong collection of music that is easy to recommend for fans of this style of music.
