Faide, Alex Anthony: Particles Of The Universe

The sticker on the cover says it all, quoting Robert Fripp: “Alex Anthony Faide” plays my guitar parts better than I do.” Who am I to disagree with Mr. Fripp? Honestly, there is not much to add if you are familiar with Fripp and King Crimson’s 80’s and beyond. King Crimson alum Pat Mastelotto makes a guest appearance to further tie Faide into the Fripp web. He has the chops for the intricate parts, and he even ventures into the soundscape territory at times, again, aligning himself with Fripp. There are moments when his lead work ventures into more ordinary territory, less angular than what you might expect, but he finds his way back to that interlocking quickly. Maybe the lack of originality in the song titles should have clued me in on the music. Faide is an excellent player, but he needs to find his own voice.
