Korn : Untouchables

Korn's 2002 effort Untouchables is a pretty solid affair, certainly heavier than the previous few albums, filled with huge bottom heavy grooves, crunchy guitars, and Jonathan Davis' mix of whiney rasps and low, guttural bellows. Hit single "Here to Stay" rocks pretty hard with doomy, downtuned guitars, and "Make Believe" actually has many twists and turns, making it an effective heavy rocker. Crunchy power chords and beefy bass lines combat bubbling synths and Jonathan's raucous vocals on "Blame", while "Bottled Up Inside" plods along in fine stoner rock fashio. Other highlights include the despair driven "Hating", the melancholy and moody "Alone I Break", and the brutal metal of "Embrace".
With an effect mix of bone crunching metal, techno and industrial bits, moody electronic passages, and an angry attitude, Untouchables makes no bones about its intentions, the band basically serving up another platter of off-beat metal, a genre called nu-metal that they basically helped to create.
