Sole Syndicate: Into The Flames

Into the Flames we will go!

The band is Sole Syndicate, hailing from Sweden and formed in 2015. Their sound is built on melodic rock and metal, with occasional proggy touches throughout.

Their latest album titled Into The Flames was released in 2022, so yes, I’ve been hanging onto this one for a while now. This is an excellent album with professional production, fine musicianship, outstanding vocals, and well-crafted melodies.

The first track “Forsaken� is a fine beginning with its slashing guitar riffs bringing on the crunch and moody keyboards colouring the soundscape. The chorus is particularly ear worm inducing, the vocals being a highlight. This one had its hooks in me from the very first listen. I was reminded of Queensryche in the outstanding “Count To Zero�, a mid-tempo moody rocker with fine guitar and keyboard solos. On “Brave Enough�, a mellow keyboard and orchestrated intro leads to burning metal riffage reminiscent of something Metallica might do and the huge chorus is super catchy. The catchy “Dust Of Angels� has the band in power ballad mode while the moody and hard hitting “In The Absence Of Light� is so impactful, both musically and lyrically. This one has the ability to take your heart and tie it in knots. Make sure you listen to the lyrics. The album ends with the ten plus minute title track with its achingly beautiful guitar and vocal intro, building into a fat, melodic chorus, soaring guitar solos, and a multitude of changes, including chugging riffs and outstanding vocal melodies. Just an awesome track.

Another nice surprise from a band previously unknown to me. This should sit well with fans of metal and melodic rock, especially those into bands like Journey and Styx. I can’t wait to hear their next one!
