Highest Primzahl On Mars: Escape From Moronia

The word primzahl means prime number. So just what is the highest prime number om Mars? Which begs the question, is it a different number on Earth? That is for another conversation.

The band is Highest Primzahl On Mars and their debut album titled Escape From Moronia was released in November 2023. Hailing from Frankfurt, Germany, the band adheres to psychedelic, Kraut, and space rock, and has made quite an addictive album. This is what electronic music is all about.

The album spans five tracks and with about sixty-three minutes of music there is a lot to wrap your head around. This is a true voyage through the cosmos starting with the nearly eighteen minute title track. The beginning trippy effects and drones eventually give way to a repetitive guitar riff that has a hypnotic effect that I just love. The different sound layers add that much more tripped out flavours, ensuring your journey through the cosmic black is suitably alluring. Calming drones reverberate through the ether in waves in the shorter “Hung Up On A Game”, before a sudden turn into guitar riff heaven. The riffs slowly build, easily drawing in the listener with their addictive qualities. The long running times allow the band to let loose with some cool spacey jams, especially on the last two tracks: “Herf’s Cosmic Comet Ride” and the album ending “Foreground Radiation”, both excellent tracks.

Escape From Moronia is a superb space/kraut rock adventure, worthy of any electronic-psychedelic record collection. Highly recommended!
