Bursting out of your speakers like some early Cure-meets-Clash-by-way-of-Midnight Oil hybrid, Germany’s INADREAM call themselves a “post-punk/rock/wave” band -- and they cover “Dead Souls,” a 1980 B-side from post-punk pioneers Joy Division. So that gives you some idea of what you’re in for when you press "play" on Strange Words. (And check out the London Calling-style cover art!)
This thing rocks like the Nineties and beyond almost never happened (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing). The quartet’s tight sound, anchored by Thorsten Wüllner’s serrated guitars and Frank Bottke’s accented, slightly snotty vocals, will leave you bopping and stomping and maybe even digging for more. In that case, seek INADREAM’s recent cover of the Eurythmics’ “Here Comes the Rain Again" -- sadly missing from this album -- and the band’s 2019 debut, No Songs For Lovers.
