Necromancers, The: Where the Void Rose

The Necromancers hail from Poiters, France and have been round since 2015. The band have three albums to their credit:

Servants of the Salem Girl (2017)
Of Blood and Wine (2018)
Where the Void Rose (2022)

On Where the Void Rose the band pull no punches as this is a hard hitting heavy rock/metal album with hooks aplenty and it’s the band’s songwriting that really stands out here. That said, some of the riff progressions add some proggy touches here and there as the band showcases some outstanding musicianship. Another plus are Basile’s lead vocals as his voice is melodic and highly versatile. Whether clean or intensely aggressive his vocals are just about perfect for the band’s heavy rock bravado.

Your trip into the nether world begins with the intense “Sunken Huntress” and its fuzzed out guitar riffs, off kilter progressions, and catchy lead vocals. The vocals get more intense as the riffs develop an extra edge and the face melting guitar solo that follows is one of the album’s many stellar moments. “Crimson Hour” has one of the best grooves on the disc with just the right amount of technicality to keep you focused. The bluesiness comes through in the gritty guitar solos. “The Needle” has ‘70s hard rock written all over it, I’m thinking Blue Oyster Cult with a dash of Iron Maiden, contrasting nicely with the slow doomy sludge and suffocating atmospheres of the positively evil sounding title track.

Where the Void Rose hit me immediately with its darkly lit occult flavoured heavy rock. If you can get your hands on this one, I highly recommend it!
