Electric High: Colorful White Lies

Electric High's debut album Colorful White Lies is a mesmerizing fusion of classic hard rock, blues, doom, and punk elements. This Norwegian outfit seamlessly blends influences from Led Zeppelin, Machine Head-era Deep Purple, Uncle Acid, and Aerosmith's "Sight for Sore Eyes" era, with a modern twist reminiscent of The Black Keys and Rival Sons. Electric High is comprised of Olav Iversen (vocals), PV Staff (vocals), Marius Mørch (guitars), Tor Helge Opdahl (drums & harmonica), and Einride Torvik (bass).

The band's versatility is staggering, and they excel at every turn. Outstanding vocal harmonies, a hypnotic retro-infused rhythmic section, and extremely appealing guitar work all contribute to an album that defies easy classification. Yet, despite its eclectic nature, Colorful White Lies feels remarkably cohesive, delivering a sonic electric high that's both captivating and impressive.

Standout tracks abound, including the opening salvo "Sun," the title track "Colorful White Lies," "Go Easy on my Heart," "Cyclone," "Royals in Rags," "Seven Wonders," and "Hear Me Out." While the album may be slightly front-loaded, this minor quibble doesn't detract from the overall quality of the record.

With their unique blend of styles and exceptional musicianship, Electric High has crafted a truly compelling debut. Fans of hard rock, blues, and heavy music will find much to love here. I'm eagerly anticipating future releases from this talented and innovative band. Cheers!
