Labyrinth: In The Vanishing Echoes Of Goodbye

Labyrinth is an Italian band that plays top-notch progressive power metal. In The Vanishing Echoes Of Goodbye is their 10th Studio album.

There are lots of shared attributes between both progressive metal and power metal, but despite the similarities, they typically stand alone as quite distinguishable, and different sub-generes. In the case of a band like Labyrinth, however, I hear a sound that is equal parts Prog & Power metal. The 6-piece uses a lot of intricate instrumentation and has a progressive songwriting approach, but pair this seamlessly with the galloping riffs and soaring anthemic vocals you'd expect to hear from a Power metal band.

In The Vanishing Echoes Of Goodbye is a fun & enjoyable album that has a nice variety of tracks that are well crafted, both individually and in the overall album sequencing. The production and playing is also first-rate. If you listen to the first minute of the opening track 'Welcome Twilight' and are not instantly sold by the riffs, the synths and the energy, then I don't know what to say to you! In fairness, not a lot else needs to be said. I'd call this a 'must hear' for fans of both prog and power metal, and it's one of the most enjoyable albums I've heard in 2025.
