You have to always be a little careful when walking the fine line between not taking yourselves too serious and coming off as juvenile. Dynamite Club's new release, It's Deeper Than Most People Actually Think combines avant-pop with the rhythms of Ska. But the near-punk delivery and the infantile lyrics grate on you until as a listener you just want to throw this sucker across the room. For every "Spiritual" and "High Life", where experimentation works, there is a "Tight Pants" or "DAPF" that destroy the CD.
Note to musicians, you better be very clever before you state in lyrics "I stick Field Hockey Sticks Up My Ass". Dynamite Club is not that creative. This is a band that wants to be witty and wants to have something to say, but they only succeed in sounding lame. As mucisians there is nothing here to really exite the listener. Pass this CD up, there are much more creative venues to spend your money on. It's really not "Deeper than Most People Actually Think". It's as shallow and childish as you can possibly imagine.
