Darren Hume has created a story-based CD based on the Aboriginal myth of Bumerali (Lightning Woman). The sound on Lightning Woman is light pop in the vein of Saturday morning theme music to some kiddie show. There isn't any creative explosion going on here, with silly lyrics like "In The Pink Saloon Let's Raise Hell When The Sun Goes Down" being sung in a half-falsetto, the CD just can not be taken serious.
The album is loaded with catchy hooks and quick riffs, but the vocals are average and there is no depth to any of the musical themes. Some of the themes might stick in your head, but like a bad advertisement jingle you will wish they didn't. I give credit to Darren Hume for taking the time to create this vision. It just never really grabbed me.
