Many will recognize the name Sarah Jezebel Deva as the female vocalist for Cradle of Filth, Therion, and Mortiis. She has teamed up with composer Chris Rehn (Abyssos) and Tommy Rehn (Moahni Moahna) to form Angtoria, a progressive and symphonic metal band that features soaring female and male vocals, loads of orchestral keyboards, crunchy guitars, and enchanting melodies. The band currently has a full line-up of known players waiting to announce to the world once they secure a record label deal, and it will be very exciting to see this powerful force be launched upon an unsuspecting world when that happens. This is some great stuff here, 5 tracks of majestic metal, glittered with classy keyboard work from both the Rehn's that give the great production a real boost (think Nightwish meets TSO), and Sarah's vocals are a delight to listen to. Her gorgeous and passionate voice elevates songs like "A Child That Walks the Path of a Man" and the intense "Deity of Disgust" (alongside guest singer Martin Haggstrom) to heights that many of her female counterparts in the genre fail to reach.
This is some seriously enjoyable progressive metal, and I'm already ready to hear a full-length release. Record labels-someone get this band signed already so we can hear more....please?
