At first listen, Spectral Magnitude reminded me what it was like hearing Rush's epochal 2112 for the first time. What are they yammering about? screams the uninitiated brain. Luckily for me, Hidden don't wish their identities, band origin or like info revealed, which means I get to make up what I like about this album.
Beyond the fact that Hidden truly is, what's special about this platter? It's chock-a-block with astral metal gloom-doom industrial space riffs, like a depressed Bal-Sagoth. The songs are about rocket science stuff (maybe Hidden's been listening to too much Vintersorg?): I'm not qualified to assess such statements as "Matter is created through thermal equilibrium," being a big science dummy. However, I do hope this and like info is correct, so any highskool kids listening to this album won't flunk Advanced Physics.
The bottom line: Should you fork over your hard-earned bucks for Spectral Magnitude ? I don't know, to be honest. They're okay, just not as good as Korovakill and definitely not fit to lick Bal-Sagoth's collective, flared, hot-rodded codpiece. Pass.
