Ladies and gentleman: Introducing Greece's answer to Symphony X. Euroforce appears to be a supergroup of sorts in its homeland, featuring singer Jioti Parcharidis (Human Fortress) and guitarist Theodore Ziras (Guardian Angel), plus in-demand sessions players pounding out the rhythm section. From Ziras' Michael Romeo-influenced arpeggios to Parcharidis' dead-on Russell Allen vocals to the rapid-fire choruses and the album's overriding drama, Euroforce do what they do well – almost as well, in fact, as Symphony X. And the band occasionally shows tinges of its own originality ("Crown Seeker," "Modern Times," "By Neptune's Hand") on its self-titled debut. But for the most part, these guys pay homage to their American neoclassical progressive brethren. Not that there's anything wrong with that …
