The debut album from Iowa metal act Index Case should help the buzz that has already started with their non-stop touring schedule opening up for the likes of Mushroomhead, Dry Kill Logic, Rob Zombie, Disturbed, POD, Papa Roach, HedPE, and Static X. While Index Case will reveal nothing overly original or groundbreaking, the band do have a penchant for crafting memorable metal anthems, that have just enough melody, crunch, and atmosphere to recommend. Tunes like the moody "Why Dreams Bleed", with its gothic/proggy arrangement, or the Distrurbed inspired stomp of "Deserver", mix with the more industrial metalcore of "Listen", "Fetish", and "For Nothing". The vocals on the album vary from clean to scream, with the emphasis on the clean side, and while the guitar work does get heavy at times, Josh Parker uses more colors and tones than pure riffs, as evident on a song like "The L".
While much of the extreme and metacore crowd might think the debut from Index Case a bit on the light side, if you dig Disturbed, Seether, Static X, and the heavier tunes of Linkin Park, this should find some rotation in your CD player.
