The End Records has put together here a collection of videos and live footage from bands on the Osmose Productions label. Those who are not familiar with Osmose should know that this label specializes in underground black, death, and grind, some of the more extreme forms of metal around. In saying that, there's some pretty brutal stuff on this packed DVD, and with the exception of a few bands like Dark Tranquility (two fun videos from their The Minds I era, "Hedon" and "Zodijackyl Light"), Impaled Nazarene, ABSU, and Immortal, most of these bands I had never heard of before, and after seeing their videos I now know why. This is some pretty rough, sometimes gory and garish stuff included here (Antaeus' "Blood War III" contains some pretty gruesome WWII footage), and in addition, the videos of Immortal from the early 90's, all dressed in their goulish black metal garb, is a little comical. That's not to say there aren't some enjoyable videos here, but after 28 of them plus more in the Special Features section, your senses feel a little battered. An added bonus is the inclusion of rare and cult live shows from the F*&%# Christ Tour in 1993, but the production and sound is pretty wretched for the most part.
If your thing is early black metal, or some of the more extreme bands in the underground death and grind genres, then by all means check this out. All others proceed with caution.
