It has long been rumored that singer Lana Lane and husband Erik Norlander were never 100% happy with the final mixing on Lana's second CD back in 1996. So, here in 2002 the two have gone back and remixed the album using modern technology as well as re-record all of Lana's vocal tracks. Another change on the 2002 version is that the duo removed the cover of Steely Dan classic "Do It Again" and replaced with the James Bond theme "You Only Live Twice." It wouldn't be a fully realized Norlander idea without the inclusion of the original 1996 version on a second disc, which permits the listener to hear both albums back to back and compare the differences.
The new version is much more vibrant and spacious, and the new mix allows classic tunes such as "Symphony of Angels", "Reverie" , and the lovely "Escher's Staircase" to breathe with new life. Those not familiar with this album can hear the line-up of Lane, Norlander on keyboards, Neil Citron on guitars, bassist Tony Franklin, and drummer Tommy Amato create superb melodic hard rock, like on the anthem "Voices", or the lively title track.
Another Lana Lane classic has been given a new lease on life thanks to this quality remixing job. Erik Norlander has done a fine job at keeping his wife's outstanding talents in the public's eye with new and re-issued material the last few years. Curious Goods is no exception.
