Here's two little Swedish gems being reissued from Record Heaven/Transubstans Records. Abramis Brama are a band from Sweden who recorded these two albums in the late 1990's. The music is 70's inspired hard rock, with influences ranging from Black Sabbath, Mountain, November, Cactus, early Jethro Tull, Grand Funk Railroad, Cream, Captain Beyond, and even some contemporary bands like Bigelf and Lucifer Was. Picture riff heavy hard rock with plenty of rhythmic grooves and you have a good idea of what the music of Abramis Brama are all about. The vocals of sung in Swedish, but the singer has a powerful voice with plenty of emotion. It's the muscular guitar work that really steals the show though. Muscular, doomy riffs permeate songs like "Somnlos" and especially "100 Dagar", which almost sounds like a long lost Black Sabbath track from 1973 with its eerie wah-wah harmony guitars and brutally heavy dirges. There's also some great drum work on the rampagingly heavy powerhouse "Nalen", a blistering piece that is a heavy rockers delight.
This is some pretty impressive stuff, and while I was only given four tracks from each album to review (those songs are listed below) I can highly recommed that interested listeners seek out both full length albums, which are now available from Record Heaven directly.
