Livre de luth de Perrine, or "The Book of Perrine", is a seventeenth century musical piece written by Ennemond and Denis Gaultier specifically for the baroque lute, an acoustic instrument that resembles a mandolin or small acoustic guitar, but has many more strings. French lute master Louis Pernot has spent the last decade transcribing and learning this classic piece, and presents his version here for the first time. Broken down into three sections comprised of 32 tracks overall, Livre de luth de Perrine plays out like the majestic baroque classic that it is, in the capable hands and fingers of Pernot. It's easy to get pulled in by the soothing sounds of the lute as played by Pernot, as he weaves wondrous tapestries of notes and melodies on this classic yet overlooked instrument.
