Regardless of your ailment, Soul Doctor prescribes equal doses of post-Pump Aerosmith, The Black Crowes when they were young and Bon Jovi in cowboy mode. This quartet originated back in the Nineties with members of German hard rockers Bonfire and Fair Warning. After releasing two previous records, undergoing a few lineup changes – Fair Warning's Tommy Heart remains in the vocalist slot – and opening gigs for Axel Rudi Pell and Dio, Soul Doctor returns with a blues-based hard-rock record that breaks absolutely no ground. Instead, For A Fistful of Dollars is a fistful of fun riffs, double entendres, catchy choruses and a ballad called "Remember" that, save for the Southern rock references, Europe would've killed for in 1988. Soul Doctor sounds little like the bands from which it formed, and based on its sound, if I didn't know better, I would have guessed that these guys were Americans.
