The history of Finnish band Reflexion goes all the way back to 1995 when two ambitious guitarists formed a band called Enchanted and started covering rock and metal tunes from bands like Metallica, Megadeth, and AC/DC. It wasn't until they recruited vocalist Juha Kylmänen and decided to write their own material and change their name to Reflexion though.
This is a two-track single of Reflexion's upcoming album Out of the Dark, containing two of the slower, ballady stuff. The title track "Undying Dreams" starts out with sparse acoustic guitars that then turn into melodic leads and develop a slightly poppy yet extremely catchy modern hard rock piece with excellent vocals by Kylmänen. Though I might be way off when it comes to his influences, I had to think of the very emotional stuff of Sentenced and perhaps Charon when I heard him sing. Reflexion is just a bit poppier and easier to listen to. The other song "Storm" is an all-piano piece with sorrowful lyrics and an excellent vocal performance by Kylmänen. Like many other Finnish singers, this guy has a great timbre and very emotive delivery.
Unfortunately it's hard to judge Reflexion based on just two songs. I'd much prefer hearing their album in its entirety. That said, if these songs are an indication as to what we should expect, I'll give the guys two thumbs up. I just wish they'd included a few more songs on the disc.
