Brutal...pummeling...violent...unrelenting...technical...and more often than not, vile. These are all ways to describe a Cannibal Corpse album. Kill, the latest release from the kings of gory death metal, is all these things and more, as the Tampa contingent seem "dead" set on raising the bar of extreme and technical death metal. Once you get past the lurid song titles and lyrics, what remains are 13 examples of brutality not often matched in the land of metal. Lead growler George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher spews forth plenty of barbaric insanity, while the dual guitar attack of Pat O'Brien & Rob Barrett weave a multitude of crushing, technical riffs and speedy whammy bar twanged shred solos. Sure, most of the songs are in the short 3 minute range and at times tend to blend together a bit, but there's no denying the power of songs like "Five Nails Through the Neck", "Make Them Suffer" and the grinding instrumental "Infinite Misery". Cannibal Corpse rampage through each piece with a furious onslaught of catastrophic riffs, blinding rhythms, and ungodly death metal vocals, leaving nothing in its wake. Kill is aptly named...you have been warned.
