One of the original New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands, the Tygers of Pang Tang, offers up a live disc from the Wacken Festival in Germany in 1999. This show would prove to be one of the first shows played since the early '80's, and in front of 30,000 screaming Euro Metalheads!
The Live At Wacken CD, has 12 songs in total, but sadly the John Sykes era Tygers is NOT represented here. Founding member, Rob Weir and the boys run through such Tygers classics as "Wild Cat", "Don't Touch Me There", and "Love Potion # 9". Performances here are pretty good, but unfortunately this is no longer 1981. The stronger, more "metal" songs were not played, ala "Gangland" and "Spellbound" This show was done to highlight the Tygers of Pan Tang's 20th anniversary of the release of their first single, "Don't Touch Me There" and one wonders if it wouldn't have been better to leave this to memory.
This CD is for the Diehard Tygers fan only. A cool band, once upon a time ago, but time has taken its toll. Pull out your copy of Spellbound and remember what the N.W.B.H.M. was all about! Those were the days!
