IAN: Drain Your Dreams

Man, where do I start with this one? IAN is a one man black metal/thrash project written, performed and produced by IAN himself. Overall this is pretty evil sounding stuff, yet you can tell that IAN is pretty young by the topics of some of the songs, in fact, I wouldn't doubt that this kid is still in High School. As for the music, it's pretty simple old school black metal type stuff, complete with poor production, overbearing vocals (it's obvious that he admires King Diamond) and some competent guitar riffs and solos. Many of the songs sound similar, with the exception of the catchy "Real", which actually has a nice hook and memorable riffs, probably because it's more in a 80's metal style than most of the rest of the songs. In the end though, much of what you hear on this CD will be hard to sit through more than one listen. Let's give him kudos though for putting this all together considering how young he probably is, and maybe in five years time the black metal world might have a fresh new face.
