The name Adrian Belew, what does that conger up in your mind? King Crimson? Avantguarde Guitar exploration? Grammy Award nominated musician? Legendary? Well, Belew is all of these things and more! With the release of his new & trilogy ending concept album, Side Three (Sanctuary Records) , Adrian Belew has written, performed & produced an eclectic variety of beautifully strange, as well as wonderfully odd ideas.
Side Three is the follow up to 2005's electronica-fused, Side Two. Belew, as would be expected takes a left turn down the winding road of obscurity and provides you with a very entertaining & albeit wacky ride! The all new 12 track Side Three goes from the groove laden tones of "Troubles", to Belew's imaginative "Incompetence Indifference", and plenty of other stops on this wild ride are sure to be had.
Fans of Belew's first installment of this trilogy, Side One, will be happy to know that legendary Primus Bass Funkaholic, Les Claypool & Drummer Wunderkin of Tool, Danny Carey, once again make an appearance, this time on 2 songs. And their presence is undeniable brilliant! Easily my 2 favorite tracks on the CD. With the second of the two songs, "Men In Helicopters v4.0" having a very Beatles, Eleanor Rigby twang to it.
True to pure Robert Frippism, Adrian Belew lets you inside to a world that very few have ever had the chance to indulge in. Side Three is a magically mastered extension of a "Super Genius", if you will. The CD clocks in at just under 40 minutes, so a long ride it isn't. But a strangely cool ride it is!
Always experimental, always on the edge, always Adrian Belew!!
