Bloodred Salvation is Fall of Serenity's Liforce Records debut, and fourth release overall. The band fits squarely in the melodic death metal camp, with touches of metalcore and progressive metal thrown in for good measure. Featuring rapid fire rhythms, chugging riffs, and growling vocal screams, Fall of Serenity won't hit you with anything you haven't already heard a million times over, but what they do they do well. Songs like "Raise Your Remorse", "Dead Eyes", and "Overflowing Senses" are brutal examples of pummeling death metal with sharp melodies flowing below the surface, and each song contains some impressive guitar work, but the band just doesn't seem to do enough at this stage of the game to separate themselves from the pack. Part of the problem is singer Rene Betzold, whose gutteral delivery just offers no variety whatsoever, and some is definitely needed during some of the more melodic moments. Still, the band shows promise and have the ability to put together some heavy songs littered with tasty guitar work (especially on "Twin Curse") , so a bright future for them might yet be on the horizon.
