La Tulipe Noire: Faded Leaves

If Madonna went goth, she might sound something like Greece’s La Tulipe Noire. This artsy five-piece, led by the sultry and smoky vocals of Ima, plays an ethereal and eclectic hybrid of subtle gothic metal and neo-progressive rock. Faded Leaves, the band’s third disc, features nine tracks — seven of them exceeding the seven-minute mark — that overflow with moody and introspective lyrics. Midway through the second song, "Castle on the Sand," Ima will have you hooked, her accent and her style leading the way to an absorbing listening experience.
