If I Had Eyes: 3 Song Demo

Can't say that I know much about this five piece band If I Had Eyes, but after a few spins I can tell you that their new 3 song demo/EP is filled with lethal metalcore sounds bristling with plenty of instrumental fireworks and screaming, sometimes growling vocals. While it's all well played and extremely aggressive stuff, three brief songs in a style that's been done before and better by bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, and Into the Moat, overall fail to generate much interest. The band has talent, but let's see what they can do on a full length release and really let their guitar interplay, heavy riffs, pounding rhythms, and brutal vocal attack start to mature and take on some originality. A song like the brutal yet proggy "The Navigator" shows plenty of promise in a sort of Mastodon-ish way, so let's see If I Had Eyes can take this thing to the next level.
