First, let me apologize to The States. Personal reasons have kept me from reviewing the volume of CDs I should have been and because of that, I have been sitting on this CD for way too long. "100 Year War" kicks off the Riff-fest that is Multiply Not Divide and the driving crunch continues through "Parade".
The States play pop-tinged rock in the vein of Green Day or Fall Out Boy, but with much more power. The extra kick is provided by the rapid-fire bass lines of Previn Warren. Chris Snyder's voice fits the music nicely, and his range is more than adequate to purvey the emotions of these songs.
The States play the kind of all-out garage rock that just makes you tap your toes and bob your head. Multiply Not Divide was recorded in 4 days, the way rock was meant to be. There is nothing here that is going to be considered new, but it is definitely a fresh feel to the Alt-Rock genre. Recommended to fans of early Police, Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains and The Velvet Underground.
