Maybe I’m supposed to be impressed that Corruption is Poland’s first stoner-rock band. Or maybe I’m supposed to be aroused by the cartoon cover featuring a close-up of a barely covered female crotch — uh, excuse me, pussy – with the back-cover mandate to "worship pussy!!!" Or maybe I’m even supposed to care that Corruption has been around for almost a dozen years and deems itself worthy enough to cover classic Black Sabbath ("Paranoid") and Deep Purple ("Perfect Strangers"). Whatever I’m supposed to be, I’m apparently not.
I understand that stoner rock doesn't always make sense or lift your spirits, especially if you’re not stoned. But Pussyworld drones incessantly, with distorted and barked vocals, mushy drums and jagged guitars. You would think that after three other albums, Corruption — whose label is backing a major international promotional blitz — could come up with something better than the thick and clunky tunes that litter this album.
Spilled across the top of Pussyworld’s back cover (grammatically incorrect, natch) is the following question, paraphrased here: Why is a wet pussy better than a dry one? The answer, my friends, is because the wet one probably belongs to an intelligent woman who hasn’t just spent the last 60 minutes listening to this dreary cacophony and is thus in the mood for a little worship.
