The lastest book from heavy metal & hard rock journalist Martin Popoff focuses on the godfathers of the genre, the almighty Black Sabbath. As is his trademark style, Popoff breaks down the career of the band by focusing on each album and going through a track by track analysis. However, what makes Doom Let Loose different from his past books on Rainbow, UFO, Blue Oyster Cult, and Rush, is that here the author has included a huge amount of black & white and color photographs, many of which have never before been seen (many coming from Candlemass' Leif Edling), as well as plenty of interviews with past and current members of the band. These interviews of course bring up many of the controversial events that have surrounded the band over the years, like the wild & crazy times, the excessive alcohol and drug use, line-up changes. etc., it's all here. Every era is covered, each album is looked at extensively, and all the different vocalists (Ozzy, Dio, Gillan, Hughes, Martin) are talked about in detail.
All these elements make Black Sabbath-Doom Let Loose the most complete and enjoyable book ever written on the lumbering metal greats. Stocked to the gills with wonderful photographs, Popoff's knowledge & wit, and first hand comments from Sabbath members, makes this a must read for fans of the band.
