Robben Ford has been one of the premier blues/jazz-fusion guitarists over the last thirty years. Emerging from the Bay Area scene in the early 70's, Ford went on to record and tour with acts such as Yellowjackets, Tom Scott & the LA Express, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, George Harrison, Greg Allman, and his own band The Blue Line. This DVD, recorded in 1993 in Germany during the band's performance on the Ohne Filter TV show, is a short yet smoking example of fine rocking blues and fiery fusion. Those familiar with Ford's playing around know of his stellar chops and searing tone, as well as his fine vocals, all of which are on display here. Along with bassist Roscoe Beck and drummer Tom Brechtlein, the trio tear through blues rockers like "You Cut Me to the Bone", the hit "Talk To Your Daughter", the gut wrenching "Worried Life Blues", and the emotional "Tell Me I'm Your Man". There are a few instrumentals here too, such as "The Brother" and "Step On It", which are great workouts for Ford as he lays down plenty of melodic, stinging guitar solos. The sound quality here is very good, and as always shows recorded for Ohne Filter contain expert camera work. Unfortunately the set is just under an hour, and bonus features are pretty slim, but if you want to see a hot set from one of the world's most talented guitarists, definitely check this out.
