Recorded live in Poland in 2001 and featuring the trio of Nick Barrett, Peter Gee, and Clive Nolan, Acoustically Challenged is a lovely little "unplugged" album from the guys in Pendragon. With both Barrett & Gee on acoustic guitars, and Nolan's small keyboard, the three float through ten lush & tender versions of Pendragon staples like "Fallen Dreams and Angels", "Alaska", "And We'll Go Hunting Deer", and "Voyager". The setting is intimate and the results are engaging, with Barrett's charming and distinguished vocals leading the way over delicate guitar strums and Nolan's majestic yet understated keyboard melodies. Chances are if you are a Pendragon fan you've heard these songs before in their more symphonic, neo-prog formats, so if you are interested in hearing some Pendragon classics played with lots of love in a mostly acoustic setting, definitely give this one a try. As always, classy stuff from a classy band.
