Popoff, Martin: Run For Cover- The Art Of Derek Riggs (book) Posted by Pete Pardo, SoT Staff Writer on 2007-07-01 06:09:14 My Score:
Anyone who has a passing interest in Iron Maiden, Derek Riggs, or album covert art in general, needs to take a gander at this gorgeously layed out book from acclaimed heavy metal author/scribe Martin Popoff. Packed with almost every piece that Riggs ever published, and some that he didn't, Run For Cover is a fascinating look at the images of Eddie that became the mascot for Iron Maiden, plus commentary from band manager Rod Smallwood and Riggs himself on every album & single cover that he ever completed. It's great looking back at just how much work went into creating images of Eddie for the many singles and B-sides the band released, and the fact that they included all his other work for such artists as Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, Budgie, Alvin Lee, and others, is an extra added treat. In many cases, I'll bet most never knew he drew some of the covers from these artists. Well written, beautifully put together, this is a must have book for your metal library.
