The country of Poland brings us the self proclaimed Black / Pagan metal of Infernum, a band which was actually formed back in the early 90's and until the release of The Curse had only one release available called Tar-Nu-Fuin which came out in 1994. The band commenced recording their follow up and then original and founding member Anextiomarus (vocals, guitars) pulled the plug. The band was not silenced for long however as he recruited new members and began anew in late 2002 which brings us up to date with The Curse which was recorded in 2004 and released by the Portugese label Sound Riot Records. There is one catch however, not long after recording the album Anextiomarus commited suicide and so the music and his performance on this disc are his last contributions to the band he founded. Infernum serves up a potent dose of pure black metal throughout the course of the CD's 7 songs and the title track and "Pagan" are black epics worthy of mention. Anextiomarus's lyrics on "Epitaph" not only deal with the end of the world as seen through the eyes of an enemy of God, but with his own death it also makes one hell of a last statement. 'Death will not win'; indeed.
