Traindodge: On A Lake Of Dead Trees +2 (reissue)
Norman, Oklahoma, the hot bed of a musical explosion. NOT! But damn the band Traindodge call Norman, OK home and there must be something in their water. This band is just awesome! On A Lake Of Dead Trees +2 is a re-release of Traindodge's 2002 release, with 2 extra songs previously released on an EP. The wall of sound that is the trio of Traindodge is a true Indie Rock lovers dream.
The 14 track CD kicks off with the blistering "Beckon The Inferno". Full of power, quirky vocals and the wall of aggressive sound that makes Traindodge so much fun to listen to. Next up is "Flight Of The Serpent" a full on rocker that grabs you by the throat and wrestles you to the ground. Traindodge is part Prog Rock and part Indie Rock and when mixed together the formula is simply amazing. A taste of Quicksand, Into Another and even Sweden's Blindside are quick comparisons that come to mind.
Best known for their tight as a drum rhythm section, that is something of a modern day John Bonham/John Paul Jones, the trio of Traindodge is both heavy and manic. And Traindodge are found at their best on On A lake Of Dead Trees +2, with 14 songs of pure aggression, angst, and progressive bliss. Not often are we delivered a CD that includes no filler tracks, a CD with not one bad song, but this is the case here. Traindodge have a killer CD and 14 tracks just waiting to be ripped on to your iPod. When was the last time you got a CD that you didn't have to skip a song that you didn't like? There are simply not many CD's that are absolutely amazing from beginning to end, but this is one of them!
Traindodge have the ability to not go down the same road twice, while the entire time being able to have the different roads traveled connect in the end. They are the same, but different. Diverse, hip, even bombastic, these are all words that describe this powerhouse from Oklahoma. Never trendy and not for the non rocker, Traindodge is a band that deserves your attention.
Now 10 years old and getting more and more versatile with each release, hopefully 2007 will be the year that the masses finds out about this loud gem that has been slugging it out in their native Norman, OK. There is a fire with these guys that once lit the world will never be able to put out.
If you are a fan of melodic heavy Indie Rock, then you should, NO you MUST, right now, go and pick up this amazing CD. Traindodge will never leave your CD player, it IS that good!
