Fair To Midland: The Drawn And Quartered EP

One would think that a band shows promise when someone like Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) takes an immediate interest to the way that you are doing things. Such was the case for Fair To Midland who employ a wide diversity and genre scoping of styles as they deliver some truly tasty Hard Rock. While their full-length album is due on Tankian's label in March 2007, this EP allows you a little teaser enjoyment while you are waiting. Four songs are often more than enough to pique ones interest and prompt additional research into a band and what better way to reinforce this than with demos and live recordings. FTM give you two of their original demos, which are now in a cleaner and sleek production as well as a couple of performances that really do a good job of capturing the vibe of the group in a concert setting. "A Seafarer's Knot" is a particularly adventurous song that shows the band holds many influences from some of the technical masters of the past. There is also an interesting 12-minute film or EPK entitled "The Drawn And Quartered Kinescope". The film includes live performances of "Intro", "A Seafarer's Knot", "Kyla Cries Cologne", "Dance Of The Manatee" as well as studio interviews in the bands hometown. It's something that makes this EP very interesting to own. It shows that they are a "buzz" band worthy of the term and can catch a wide listener base very quickly. Fair To Midland is a rocking satisfaction.

FTM is Darroh Sudderth (vocals), Cliff Campbell (guitar), Jon Dicken (bass), Bret Stowers (drums) and Matt Langley (keys/electronics).
