Brutal hardcore meets crushing thrash on the latest from Newburgh, New York's All Out War. Assassins In The House Of God is probably going to be the most "in your face" and "intense" release on the Victory Records label this year, as these guys go for the juggular with their brand of Slayer meets Cro-Mags meets SOD metallic mayhem.
Lead screamer Mike Score leads the band through moments of sonic brutality on tracks like "Behind The Crescent And The Cross", "Curtain Call For The Crucified", "Beyond Redemotion", and the monolithic title track. His imposing screams and barks cut through the wall of thick guitar riffs from Jim Bremer & Jim Antonelli, who combined have come up with some fierce thrash throughout this CD that will often remind of Slayer's classic opus Reign in Blood. "Angels Of Genocide" and "Glorified In Deceit" bring plenty of death metal influences into the fold, which mix with the hardcore and thrash elements for one hell of a powerhouse attack. There's no relenting, just non-stop riff-o-rama and pounding drum work (courtesy of Lou Iuzzini) that in the end will leave you totally out of breath.
Basically, Assassins In The House Of God is 38 minutes of sheer aggression, and these New York veterans have once again proven that 80's thrash/death metal and the rage of the underground hardcore scene is still alive and well.
