Comeback Kid's follow-up to their 2005 release Wake the Dead is the bold and brutal Broadcasting, an energetic mix of hardcore and metal that is sure to strike a chord with their faithful fans and bring in some new ones. This time around lead singer Scott Wade is gone, replaced by Andrew Neufield, who has the aggressive scream that is a staple of the genre down pat. These guys aren't afraid to throw in some massive riffs and tricky passages, as they do quite nicely on "The Blackstone" and the stomping frenzy of "Come Around", but for the most part too many of these short tracks sound almost identical to each other. When Neufield chooses to change his delivery a bit and offer up some melodic vocal melodies, it gives a few tracks the variety they desperately need, but it's not often. Still, if you like rampaging breakdowns ("Intuition" is one hell of a heavy tune) with frantic rhythms and plenty of screaming vocals, Broadcasting might just fit the bill for you.
