Following a 10-year hiatus in which the two founding members did not speak to each other, Albany, N.Y.'s The Hanslick Rebellion emerge with a catchy albeit odd six-song EP called The Deli of Life. Merging the collective experiences of four musicians who spent the past decade playing in other area bands, doing session gigs with Band Camp and Jessica Simpson(!?) and penning material for King Missile and surviving members of The Ramones, The Rebellion takes its name from Eduard Hanslick, a powerful 19th-century music critic for Vienna's Neue Freie Presse. This band has certainly been a critics' darling, and it's arty and cynical but unpretentious (and sometimes crass) slacker rock will have you singing along to little ditties like "Pop" and "You Are Boring the Shit Out of Me" by the second spin.
