If you missed out on last year's cross-cultural extravaganza Extra Golden (two Americans, two Africans), you might be lost when I say that this is the logical successor to that recording. If not, you know of what I speak. Lots of African rhythms here, not unlike Byrne and Eno's My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts crashing into vintage Can (the mercurial madness of the Damo years crossed with the disco biscuits of the latter days) after having visited your cousin James' band whilst it practiced in a sweaty,
sweltering garage somewhere in the rust hub of Ohio. The best moments that these mofos have concocted on this raging slab include the opening epic (16 minutes,
no less!) "Sufficiently Breakfast," the robotic workout "Wizard Of Points" and the properly progressive "Whalebone." Less successful are the bands stabs at more conventional tunes ("Chemical Agents", "101 Miles And Runnin'") but everyone needs a break every now and again and that's precisely what those half baked interludes offer. God bless 'em. Perfect for virtually any recreational activity under the sun and a few that go on behind it as well.
