Here's an unusual switch on things: Bloozy, booze-oriented rock with funk and prog changes beneath it. Sort of what might have happened had the Black Crowes grown up on a steady diet of Genesis and Gentle Giant, and had Peter Gabriel dove into a few more Faces albums over the years. It's good times through and through, especially during the gloriously bloated "Tanglewood," the attitudinal "Drank You Out Of My Mind" and the closing "Goodnight, Goodluck." It's hard to predict what this band's core audience will wind up being––Little Feat never really made it overwhelmingly big doing this same kind of intelligent swamp music––but it's sure neat to picture the possibilities. Worth the time and effort.
