Ever wonder what would possess someone to re-release a little known record, by a little known band? Me too! Enter Germany's Thrash band Holy Moses with a re-release of their 1986 record, Queen Of Siam (Locomotive Records).
This 9 track re-release also features their Walpurgisnight 7 song Demo, for a total of 16 poor excuses for '80's Metal tracks. With the very first sonic assault on your poor ears, it is abundantly clear that this was originally made in the 1980's (1986, to be exact). With all due respect to all of the awesome Metal that was released in this era, Queen Of Siam is not one of them. This CD sounds bad (sounds like it was recorded in their bathroom), with bad songs, bad musicianship, and even worse female delivered vocals from Sabina Classen. She gives a new spin on bad "Death Metal" styled vocals. She is even dubbed "The Female Vocalist From Hell". God, I hope I don't end up in hell !! And they even have a song aptly titled, "Don't Mess Around With The Bitch"! Oh yeah I forgot, this IS from the '80's!! How cheesy can you get?
Holy Moses was originally formed in 1980 and I read that they have produced 10 records in their 27 year existence, which makes me wonder how I could never have even heard of them in 27 years! But after being bludgeoned to death with the listening of this debut re-release, I am glad that I never found them before.
Apparently somewhat known in Europe, Holy Moses re-delivers a dud of a record from 21 years ago that can only be summed up in a Spinal Tap type of term, a "shit sandwich".
Don't waste your hard earned money.
